Brian O'Connell

Brian is a Director of Aspect's office in Gaborone, Botswana. The office is currently working with the President's Office, the Ministry of Health and the University of Botswana.

Brian has worked for many major news organisations over the past thirty years and has consulted global financial institutions and universities on both sides of the Atlantic. He is also the author of three major books and a screenplay that is in preproduction for Channel 4 Films in the UK.

Brian has worked for the Sunday Times, Associated Newspapers, Independent Newspapers, Sdu Uitgevers and Rossel & Cie, the publisher of Le Soir Newspaper. He has also written regular columns for the Wall Street Journal, the Evening Standard, the Evening Herald, the Financial News and many other media outlets. Brian has appeared as a commentator on CBS Television, BBC Newsnight, Channel 4, Network 9 and hosted a regular Sunday morning political commentary program on RTE, the Irish State Television Network.

In his role as a business consultant, he has worked on assignments in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Dubai, Egypt, Jordan, France, Germany, Sweden, Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, Portugal and the Netherlands.

Brian has an undergraduate degree in European History from the University of London and a Master's in Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. He has a dual Irish-American nationality.

Brian is the devoted father of two children and enjoys running and cycling.  His son attends Sciences Po in Paris and his daughter is a record-holding long-distance runner in secondary school in the United States. In his spare time he enjoys sailing on the North Sea and reading.
